Taken from Charter Raceway press release from Sept 1, 2009
R.J. Gerber has been running strong in the later part of the season in the Briggs Sealed Box Stock division. But on Tuesday night, Gerber stepped it up a notch. After splitting feature race wins with Elijah Koenig, Gerber took the lead when the green flag flew in the feature race and led every lap on his way to his third win of the year. Koenig worked his way up to second by lap three but could not run down Gerber. Following at the finish were Joey Sproule and Trevor Grunst.
The season has ended at Charter Raceway Park. We are still waiting to find out the final points to find out if we finished first or second in points. As soon as we know - I will update everyone.
We have a few more Sunday races at Point so I will keep everyone posted on the results.

Ups and Downs of Racing
Sunday, July 26th was just one of those days. The first heat race resulted in a 2nd place finish. The second heat race started off a little better, after an awesome power pass I found myself in the lead and walking away from the pack behind me and then it happened a pop and a poof and my kart died coming into turn three. At first we thought it was a simple wire came loose, but when my Dad checked the motor and found no compression, we realized it was something bigger. It was not a good day for my uncle, he left the track having 4 kart motors to repair this week. Definitly a down day of racing.
I wasn't sure if Tuesday, July 28 was going to be much better. the competition was fast and luck was not going my way. First heat race started out strong and was battling the leader was he spun out and the caution flag flew. Just like any real racer, I never touched him, but the flagman sent us both to the back with two laps to go. Second heat race heat race was not much better and I finished in third place. Then it was time for the feature. I made the mistake and lifted for another kart on the first lap and found myself at the back of the field. One by one I started passing the karts in front of me. The leader had jumped out to a huge lead so my Mom and Dad figured second was the best I was going to be able to do but I showed them, lap after lap I shorted the distance between my kart and the leader and then finally on the white flag lap I made my move and took the lead. It really felt good to get to the winners circle again.

Vacation over - back to racing
Going on vacation is fun, but this weekend it was time to get back on the track. A big thank you to Uncle Donny for setting up an awesome kart for Sunday. Can you say "Clean Sweep"? The first heat race I started at the back of the pack and quickly jumped up to second. The track was dry slick and the leader was hugging the bottom pretty tight. It didn't take long before lap traffic came into play and I was able to make my move and take the lead.
Second heat, I started on the pole and never looked back. With 2 laps to go the caution came out and Mom got a little nervous but she soon saw she had nothing to fear and I collected my second checkered flag of the afternoon.
Feature time and again I started on the pole and thanks to an excellent handling kart lead the entire race, green to checkered.
On a side note, Cody had his kart out for practice tonight and had a blast.
See you at the track - RJ

Celebrating the 4th of July by taking a break
Just to keep everyone up to speed and to explain the lack of racing updates, the Gerber boys and their Mom went to Arizona to celebrate the 4th of July this year.
We took the train from Williams to the Grand Canyon on Friday. On the train Cody got a chance to play a real fiddle.
On Thursday, I spent the afternoon fishing in Williams. I caught a small mouth bass and a spotted bass. Jason caught himself.

First Race in Fort Atkinson 6-14-09
It was a little warm but my kart was fast. The first heat race I started second row inside but once the green flag dropped I quickly moved into the lead and led the rest of the race to pick up my first win on the season in Fort Atkinson. A quick change in air pressure and it was time for my second heat race. This time, I started on the pole. The green flag flew and there was no looking back. Second win of the day. For the feature I started at the back. This would prove to be the most difficult race of the day as the track had really dried out and was slick and dusty. I quickly moved up to third and kept looking for my chance but the track was just to dry to pass. Finally on the white flag lap while working around lap traffic the leader spun and I was able to finish in second place.

Racing Updates from the Drivers Themselves
For those of you that have been monitoring the boy's website you might have noticed that I do a really bad job on updating the race results and what they are doing. I am working REALLY hard at delegating respondsibilities when I can so starting next week, RJ and Cody will be providing their own race updates. Cheer them on and let them know you are reading.
